Michael Doughman tells the story of the International LGBT Press Tour for Outrageous Oral, Volume 21, May 12, 2016, at the Round Up Saloon. Outrageous Oral is a quarterly evening of poignant memories and stories from Dallas' GLBT past. The Dallas Way is committed to our mission to gather, store, organize, and present the complete GLBT history of Dallas, Texas.
Michael is a 49-year veteran of the entertainment industry. He has worked as a dancer, singer, writer, comedian and producer. He started his career dancing for Ann-Margaret and then preformed for 9 years in Las Vegas with the Follies Bergere. He remained in Las Vegas to write, produce and direct many international touring companies before moving to Dallas, Texas in 1980.
Michael was the Art Director for the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau for 10 years as well as point-person for the LGBT business and travel markets. He has been actively involved in fundraising with many North Texas AIDS/HIV service agencies, the Turtle Creek Chorale, the Cathedral of Hope and the Texas Gay Rodeo Association. He is currently the Executive Director of the Dallas Tavern Guild and oversees the production of the annual Voice of Pride competition and the Alan Ross Texas Freedom Parade and Festival in the Park. He has been instrumental in developing an International LGBT Press Trip. Inviting world-class travel writers to visit and review the Dallas area as a natural GLBT-friendly destination for business and leisure travelers.
